The Sea
2011
In this video, a blank sheet of paper slowly becomes the site of an apparition: mark after mark, a small castle emerges on the seashore, as if made of sand. The construction is meticulous, almost ritualistic, and reveals the ephemeral essence of the drawing itself: what takes shape is destined to transform.
As the shadow of the castle lengthens, deforms, and melts away, the realistic stroke opens up to a surreal dimension. The shadow liquefies, blending with the marine element, as if the material of the drawing were transforming into water or a dream. The video reflects on the time of construction and fading, on the instability of the image and its ability to suggest metamorphosis.
